209 Days

Hello, again. My husband died last June, unexpectedly. I wonder if things might be easier if it had been expected. Probably not.

After 209 days, I have finally removed his clothes and personal items from our home. Actually, not all. Some  things I couldn’t let go of.  I’ve boxed them up. I have donated most of the other items to Goodwill. I chose Goodwill because they sell their donations and people will appreciate what nice bargains they are getting. He was my Ken doll. I always dressed him nicely and stylishly.
This chore was one of the most dreaded things I knew I had to do. I also have not cleared out his medicine cabinet in the bathroom. His shaving items, deodorant, toothbrush, etc. They are still untouched as he left them. I wonder how many days that will take. Grief sucks.

Happy New Year...

Hello, I’m Di. I’m a griefaholic. My husband of 31 years died last summer, unexpectedly. We had a rough start at the beginning of our marriage but, the last 11 years were truly a godsend. Re-evaluation, renewed wedding vows, and a new business adventure gave us the best years of our lives. I am grateful to have lived out those last years with the best friend I’ve ever had. He loved me as no other did, he gave me everything I ever wanted, and he was the funniest guy I’ll ever know. Goodbye for now and my heart will always belong to you...

Yum or Yuck...

Our yearly mecca to the Gulf of Mexico is full of Southern memories as it continues to lure us back each year. Although the ocean is usually our main attraction, the Southern style of cooking is certainly the second fiddle. From freshly boiled  seafood to a stopover from the highway for a batch of hot boiled peanuts, we do love the cuisine of the South. Y’all come visit when you can! Toodle loo...

Sunday Dinner...NOT Supper or Lunch

When the veggies in the garden have grown to just the right size, the tomatoes have ripened on the vine, and all the other joyful bounties of summertime in the South are singing to you, one prepares to bring the orchestra all together.

Sunday dinner coming! Not, lunch or supper mind you. The meal at noon is called ‘dinner’in the South. The dinner meal might include chicken and dumplings, baby lima beans, turnip greens, fried potatoes, sliced onion, stewed carrots, and don’t forget the cornbread!

So when someone invites you to Sunday dinner, don’t arrive at 8 pm, dressed to the nines, with a bottle of wine in your hand. Bring the seeet tea, if you must. Y’all come around noon with a big ole appetite and join in the symphony of the South... Sunday Dinner.

Shopping at Walmart Goodwill and Amazon

Who doesn’t love a good deal? I got this casual,  comfortable, stylish boho type dress from Walmart for only $9.96 plus Arkansas tax. What a bargain!

Normally, I do not shop for clothing at Walmart because, usually, everything I buy seems to be a wash and wear once, then toss it item. After one washing, seams begin to unravel, more wrinkles than on Mick’s face crop up, and the darn thing is not even presentable to take to Goodwill . If I won’t wear it, I won’t donate it.

However, this cool and fun dress is a bargain after three washings, no ravels, no ironing, and appears will make it through the summer! It’s a go to dress for dressing up or dressing down. Try a scarf and wedges. Who doesn’t love a bargain?? Nice to see Walmart gearing up to its competition... Amazon Prime Day  July 16, 2018. Have you giggled today??

Thank You President Bill

Thank you President Clinton for your gracious gift of the Presidential Library which you placed in the wonderful City of Little Rock! Arkansans will forever be grateful for this economic boost of love you have given back to your roots! I also especially enjoy the Kumpuris Lecture Series at the Bill Clinton School of Public Service. Mary Steenburgen was the perfect moderator for you and James PattersonThe President Is Missing is in the mail and will review it soon!

Giggling Up Yonder

Have you ever lost a close, young family member? There are no words, no comfort, no peace, no joy, no reason for a good while. You are dazed for the longest. Within a few days and then a few weeks you realize that you must replace that lost feeling with a thing called hope. Hope, that one day you will once again meet up yonder. Below are pictures of Noah, me, Mike, and Wendy at Brody’s Memorial Service. Hope to see you soon, Brody.
